What is SpamDuster?

SpamDuster filters spam, viruses and phishing out of your incoming mail before it reaches any mailbox. One SpamDuster server covers the domains and email addresses of its plan (more with expansion packs), sits in front of your existing mail server, and works with cPanel & WHM, Plesk and DirectAdmin.

What SpamDuster does

SpamDuster is a mail filter. It receives your incoming mail first, stops spam, viruses and phishing, and passes the clean mail on to your own mail server. Your mailboxes, your mail server and the way your users read mail do not change.

Blocked mail is not silently deleted: a copy is kept where an administrator can review it and release anything blocked by mistake.

SpamDuster is a PortWall product: you order, pay and open support tickets through the PortWall billing portal.

Who SpamDuster is for

SpamDuster is for anyone who runs their own mail server and wants a dedicated filter in front of it: businesses and web hosting companies. Pricing does not depend on the number of mailboxes, with domains and addresses included in every plan, so it suits organisations and hosts with many domains or users.

A SpamDuster Cloud filter protects one mail server. SpamDuster On-Premise is licensed per mail server, so one appliance can protect several mail servers. See SpamDuster Cloud or On-Premise?.

What SpamDuster protects against

  • Spam: adaptive scoring, sender reputation checks, public blocklists and greylisting.
  • Viruses and malware: every message and attachment is scanned, including files inside zip, rar and 7z archives and password-protected archives. SpamDuster Cloud's Micro plan does not include antivirus scanning.
  • Phishing: message content, links and the sender's claimed identity are checked to catch credential theft and impersonation, including mail that passes SPF, DKIM and DMARC.
  • Forged senders: SPF, DKIM and DMARC checks on incoming mail.

See What SpamDuster Cloud includes for the full list.

How SpamDuster is priced

Every SpamDuster Cloud plan includes a number of domains and email addresses, and domain expansion packs add more. You choose a plan for the amount of mail and the size of your domain list. See SpamDuster Cloud plans. The on-premise appliances are licensed per mail server, at $360 a year per mail server for inbound, 5 mail servers or more, or with domain packs: see SpamDuster On-Premise Inbound.
