What happens after you order SpamDuster Cloud
We build your dedicated SpamDuster server automatically as soon as your order is active. There is nothing for you to install. When the server is ready, you get an email with the subject Your SpamDuster instance is ready. It gives you three things:
- the Console address, where you manage the filter;
- the Mail host (MX target), the name your MX records will point at;
- a single-use link to set your console password.
To place the order itself, see How to place an order.
The setup steps, in order
Set SpamDuster up in this order. Only the last step affects your live mail, so you can take your time with the others.
- Sign in to the console for the first time.
- Add your mail domains, so the filter accepts their mail.
- Set your destination mail server, the server that receives clean mail.
- Send a test message through the filter.
- Point your MX records at SpamDuster.
The console's Dashboard shows the same list under Finish setting up your filter and ticks each step as you complete it.

How long SpamDuster Cloud takes to go live
Setting up SpamDuster Cloud usually takes under an hour of your time. Building the server is automatic and takes a few minutes. Changing your MX records takes effect as the old records expire from caches, which depends on the time-to-live (TTL) your DNS provider set on them.
Using a hosting control panel
If your domains are hosted on cPanel & WHM, Plesk or DirectAdmin servers, you can connect them to SpamDuster so their domain list stays in sync automatically, instead of adding domains by hand. See Connect a hosting control panel.
