Spam is getting through

Mark each spam message with Mark spam on the Mail page of the console so the filter learns, block persistent senders in Allow & block, and check that every MX record points at SpamDuster so spammers cannot go around the filter.

Teach the filter

  1. On the Mail page of the console, open Accepted and find the spam message.
  2. Select Mark spam and confirm. If it was phishing, select Report phishing too.

The filter learns from every correction. See Teach the filter what is spam.

Check the spam came through SpamDuster

Spam that never passed through SpamDuster cannot be filtered by it.

  1. Search for the message in Log search. See Find a message and prove it was delivered.
  2. If it is not there, it reached your mail server another way. Check that the domain has no MX records left pointing at your own server; see Point your MX records at SpamDuster.
  3. Set your mail server to accept incoming mail only from the SpamDuster server's IP address, so spammers cannot deliver to it directly.

Block a persistent sender

If the same sender or sending server keeps getting through, add it to Blacklisted senders or Denied connection IPs on Allow & block. See Block senders and IP addresses.

Check no sender is allowed by mistake

Mail from an allowed sender skips the spam checks. Open Allowed senders and remove any entry you no longer need, especially whole domains. See Allow a sender.
