Mail from new senders is delayed

While greylisting is on, the first message from a sender SpamDuster has not seen before can arrive a few minutes late. Later messages from that sender are not delayed. You can shorten the delay or turn greylisting off in Filter config.

Why the first message is late

Greylisting asks a sending server SpamDuster has not seen before to try again later. Real mail servers retry and the message is accepted; many spam tools never retry. The delay is 5 minutes by default plus however long the sending server waits before it retries, which some servers stretch much longer. Mail from senders already seen is not delayed.

Shorten the delay or turn greylisting off

  1. In Filter config, find Delaying / Greylisting.
  2. Lower Delay Time (minutes), or untick Enabled to turn greylisting off.
  3. Select Save.

Turning greylisting off lets more spam reach the other checks, so prefer a shorter delay.

Time-sensitive mail such as sign-in codes

One-time codes and password reset emails from a new service can be delayed the first time. To avoid that for a service you trust, add the sender under Allowed senders. See Allow a sender.
